Families in Transition & Education
If your family finds themselves in a transitional period where steady housing is a challenge, the McKinney-Vento Act (Homeless Act) may provide supports and protections to ensure that your child/children have a consistent education.
Please contact either your children's school or the Homeless Liaison, Kyle Gerdes at 815-754-2290.
Assistance may include:
An Illinois State Board of Education grant-funded project under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Children and Youth Program. The goal of this statewide initiative is to disseminate information to Illinois schools and shelters as to the educational rights and needs of homeless children and youth.
